Fall in Love with Payal Singhal

Payal Singhal is back this year with a collection that is hotter than ever.  Payal recently had a trunk show in NYC and CitySaheli had the opportunity to sit down with her and talk about her new collection and the inspiration behind it.

Payal told CitySaheli that she was inspired by the concept of “old world meets new.”  Lace, net, brocades and georgette are the fabrics she primarily used for her new collection.  The antique look of villandi and kundan are integrated throughout the collection for a subdued yet glamorous touch of bling.  For instance, the collection contains a few pieces that are anarkali style, but Payal made them more modern by adding a bustier look.  It’s the contrast and melting of the two styles that makes Payal’s new collection a true homerun.

The collection has many outfits with necklines that resemble jewelry, which makes the pieces stand out immediately.  CitySaheli was blown away by the elegance and beauty of these pieces.  At times you second guess yourself whether the outfit is being accessorized or if it is part of the outfit itself.  The dazzle factor for these garments makes them suitable for any occasion.

One of the best features of Payal’s clothing is the ability to get two looks out of one outfit.  For example, a kurta can easily become a dress for a cocktail party and vice versa.  In fact, many of her clients will buy a dress and ask for a dupatta  and pants.  Payal intentionally makes most of her outfits convertible.  “I want people to get use out of their outfit and be able to wear it to a wedding and to a cocktail party,” says Payal.  “My collection is meant to be versatile and wearable.”

Remember, with any outfit, Payal can alter the color, neckline, and sleeve type. We’ve attached some of our favorite looks from her newest collection. Also, stay tuned for next Friday’s newsletter where we get bridal tips from Payal herself and a sneak peek at her bridal collection.
