Spending the summer in the City doesn’t have to be all about sweating in a crowded subway and speeding through hordes of tourists to get to another long day at work. Step into the relaxing world of New York’s finest (and air-conditioned) art galleries where you can catch a variety of exhibitions by some of South Asia’s most talented artists.
Tamarind Art

The midtown gallery presents the works of established artists as well as younger up-and-coming talents. Past exhibitions include “Maps, Metaphors and mythologies” and “Sonic Chromatic – Works by Deaf and Hard of Hearing Artists.” The current exhibition “Nature Captured – Endangered Species of India” opened last Tuesday and displays sixty-three full-color photographs of some of the rarest species of Indian wildlife, including the Asian Leopard, the Indian Wolf and the Bengal Tiger, by Indian-born photographer Yogendra M. Shah. The photos will be on display until August 8th.
