CRY (Child Rights and You America Inc)
Join CRY for the group’s Dream a Little Dream Together event at Taj Lounge. This benefit dinner is dedicated to the hope of CRY America and the collective conviction of people from all walks of life to see a just and better world for children. Bhangra In Motion
Get your dancing shoes on and help a great cause by attending Bhangra In Motion this Thursday at China 1. Don’t worry, free bhangra classes will be available!
In Motion is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide children from unprivileged communities an opportunity to be creative, confident and inspired. The group does this by bringing performing arts programs to the children at no cost to the families. Click here for more information.
Friday, November 20th
D’Arranged Marriage
This one man show is said to make you laugh until you cry. The comedy addresses arranged marriage in South Asian cultures through hilarious characters and storylines. Performed around the world, the show will be performed off-Broadway this Friday at The Trial NYC. Click here for more information.
AWAKE (Asian Women’s Alliance for Kinship and Equality)
This Friday, AWAKE, along with the Rockland Family Shelter, is previewing Deepa Mehta’s newest film Heaven on Earth, at the Rockland Community Center. The film addresses the struggles faced by women in domestic violence situations. A Q&A with acclaimed director Deepa Mehta will follow the film.
Awake is a not for profit volunteer organization committed to helping women and children in abusive situations. The organization offers a full spectrum of services including legal, counseling, financial and social.
