Karaoke is a favorite pastime for many.  Its fun, social and great for all ages!  CitySaheli can’t help but wonder why the karaoke phenomenon hasn’t become more popular in the South Asian community, but expects it will be all the rage real soon.   This pastime has recently been catching on amongst South Asians with the success of Indian Americans like Sanjaya and Anup Desai on American Idol, and with the American Idol-like sensation Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in India

Karaoke spots in NYC are keeping up with this trend by expanding their world collections to include Hindi tunes.   So, if you love to sing for fun, or want to see if you are American Idol material, check out these places and don’t be afraid to let the Bollywood star come out in you!
