Need a new spot to spend your weekends? Pranna, meaning “life force” in Sanskrit, opened in the Flatiron District and is popular both as a nightspot and as a restaurant. Indian-born chef Chai Trivedi, who worked under Patricia Yeo at Sapa, traveled through Thailand, Vietnam, India and other countries (via motorcycle) to be inspired by Southeast Asian cuisine. The results: javanese pepper paneer, cumin crusted hanger steak, and a wide array of satays. In the mood for something sweet? Pastry chef Jehangir Mehta has created a unique dessert menu that is sure to please. It’s a great place to go for a small bite in the lounge – and make sure to check out Pranna’s enticing stimulus package, which makes a visit during happy hour well worthwhile.
Pranna has become a popular nightspot for many New Yorkers…the line is often out the door. The multi-space venue is striking and large enough to fit over a thousand people. The DJ spins all night long and there is a great late night menu – just in case you have the munchies. So next time you are in Flatiron, definitely check this place out.
